Product Development

McHugh Consulting Resources, Inc. has extensive experience in the development and drafting of readable policy forms for group, blanket and individual lines of business in the following product areas.

  • Medical - small and large group medical including dental, vision and prescription drug; and individual medical plans.
  • Managed Care Plans - such as PPO, POS and HMO.
  • Disability Income - short term and long term disability.
  • Critical Illness and Specified Disease plans.
  • Stop Loss, Provider Excess and Occupational Accident plans.
  • Long Term Care, Medicare Supplement and Champus Supplement plans.
  • Life and AD & D - group and individual life and accidental death and dismemberment, accelerated life coverage.

State Filing Services

We provide complete state filing services.

McHugh Consulting Resources will manage all of the details involved in multiple state filing processes. We will do as much or as little as you want.

We will prepare:

  • filing letters specific to the product and/or market,
  • all required state certifications and associated filing materials;
  • filing fees; and
  • the correct number of copies and attachments required for submitting all forms and rates in all 50 states.

We know how important speed and accuracy can be in the filing process and we utilize a unique computerized state filing management system in preparing, tracking and managing your filing project. Filings are complete and accurate. We provide regular updates on the status of your filings and work within your specified guidelines and approval.

If our Regulatory Review services are requested we also will review all filings for state and federal compliance prior to filing.

We handle Insurance Department Responses in a timely manner.

McHugh Consulting Resources will research and provide a timely response to any insurance department inquiry. No changes will be made or response sent without your advance approval. We follow through with regular contact to the insurance department and regular status updates to you. You always know where your filing stands.

Regulatory Review

Whether you need a new product developed, a compliance update on an existing line of business, or a general product review prior to filing, McHugh Consulting Resources is prepared to provide the degree of regulatory review that you need. We have state of the art research tools available to ensure timely access to enacted legislation.

State Compliance Review

At your request we will review state laws to determine if any changes are needed to your product before it is filed. Our review can be tailored to your specifications, such as a review for state mandates or managed care issues. We will even assist you in providing regular state compliance updates on enacted laws and regulations geared toward your particular line of business or product needs.

Federal Compliance Review

With the passage of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Mental Health Parity Act, the Mothers Protection Act, the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act, and the Gramm-Leach ­Bliley Act, federal compliance can be overwhelming.
